Geleneksel Silvan Evlerinin Mimari Analizi Architectural Analysis of Traditional Silvan Houses

Abstract
Silvan, the town of Diyarbakir is a historical environment which contains tangible and intangible cultural heritage of traditional urban culture. In the town of Silvan which conserves its architectural texture partially, traditional houses are an important part of urban identity, witnessing the level and quality of past. There are still some examples of traditional characteristic houses which are located in Silvan Castle suitable with the topography and formed by the use of local materials. The materials of Silvan houses, which have a unique architectural character in terms of plan layout, façade shape and material usage, are stone, and wooden just in the floors. The facades are enriched with triangular pediments, cornices, moldings, top windows and stone figures, like in the monumental buildings. In the literature survey, it has been determined that no studies have been done about Silvan houses. In this study, it is aimed to attract the attention of researchers by introducing the civil architectural heritage of Silvan Town. In this respect, architectural survey has been conducted in traditional houses of Silvan Town and the evaluations revealed through this article.
