EXPRESSIVE POSSIBILITIES OF SENTENCES IN ARTIST DISCOURSE OF ROMAN IVANYCHUK

Abstract
The article is devoted to the syntactic-stylistic organization of the language of Roman Ivanychuk’s works, and the analysis of the expressive possibilities of various types of sentences in particular. It is noted that the individual writing style of the author is characterised by a significant wealth of expressive means, different types of artistic speech, changes in the rhythm of statements, the presence of syntactic structures of publicistic style. The systematic analysis of the prose writer’s texts of historical works is performed, various types of sentences are revealed in them, the expediency and methods of using such means are determined, the features of their functioning in various speech situations are described, the expressive possibilities of these syntactic units in the artistic discourse are shown. Among the corresponding constructions there are sentences with verbal anaphora considered, sentences built on the model “question-answer”, exclamatory sentences-slogans, the presence of which is determined by the genre specificity of the talented prose writer’s creativity, his skill to perfectly style the language, the desire to enhance artistic expression. It is found that such syntactic means have their own uses in historical novels. They are traced in the author’s language, characters’ speech (monologues, dialogues), and their internal speech. Their extraordinary expressiveness gives to a form of reflection a particular aesthetic orientation, designed to achieve the maximum transfer of reproducible historical facts. The texts with such sentences reveal the content of the writer’s works, reflect the themes of our history, cover their ideological orientation and report the ideas of nationwide scale. The author depicts artistic images with their help, defines the characters, and creates a unique atmosphere of authenticity of the narrative in historical novels. It is established that the considered sentences are the organic components of Roman Ivanychuk's artistic discourse, organize the syntactic structure of the language of his historical works, reflect the specifics of the writer’s individual style, and distinguish the artist as a unique person among others.
