ICT Enabled Blended Learning

Abstract

Education is an enduring process, that facilitates achievement of new knowledge, skills, values and beliefs. The methodology employed in imparting knowledge or the overall process of teaching is called pedagogy. The education in the modern era is change-oriented and therefore, courses, methodology, syllabus, curriculum, pedagogy, tools and techniques are updated time and again, to meet the anticipation of changes taking place in the world at large and also to keep pace with the needs of the changing dynamics in the society. In education sector, the utilization of Information and communication Technology based e-learning and blended learning, is increasing at a rapid pace. In blended learning, the main spotlight, is to provide benefits of both online learning and classroom learning methods. This paper presents the overview of the conception and idea of Blended Learning from different perspectives and how blended learning pedagogies are gradually incorporated in modern classrooms. It also describes various tools and techniques, employed in blended learning. This paper also explains various situations in which, blended learning might be beneficial, along with the challenges faced such as technical, organizational and instructional design challenges. Thus, this research paper explains, how traditional learning space shall be replaced by technology embedded future ready learning space, and it will require many changes in terms of pedagogy, learning space, the position of the learner and the position of instructor in the coming time.
