The Effect of Islam on Arabic Sa’aloukiah Phenomenon

Abstract

There has been embedded a reality in the nature of the humans since their commencement of life, which caused them to always be against cruelty and injustice. Whereas cruelty and oppression have always existed within the term of mankind’s history continuously, motivating and movement of certain groups against the same in the form of revolt and refractoriness have not been surprising; the creators of such movements have had a variety of names in different lands throughout history: Sa’alik in the Arabian Peninsula, Ayyaran in Iran, Ahdath in Syria, Akhis in Turkey, Kakehs in Afghanistan, Robin Hood in England, Ninjas in Japan, etc. As oppressionopposing and justice-oriented group, Sa’alik have in turn played an important role in facing the cruel and oppressing people; however, in order achieve their objectives, the members of this group also committed a series of unacceptable and illegal actions. In this study, we are going to focus on Sa’alik and the reasons on their appearance during the Pre-Islam era in the effect of the holy religion of Islam and its rules on the flow of this phenomenon and type of orientation of the members of this group against Islam. Meanwhile, the Sa’alik lived during the Umayyad and early Abbasid eras- which was the end of their activities- are mentioned here. The methodology of this study is descriptive- analytical, completed through referring to the library and available references.
