29 NOVEMBER 1795 KAHRAMANMARAŞ EARTHQUAKE, SOUTHERN TURKEY
Journal Title: Bulletin of the Mineral Research and Exploration - Year 2017, Vol 155, Issue
Abstract
Major tectonics on the Kahramanmaraş region are the northern strand of EAFZ (Sürgü fault zone, Çardak segment, Savrun segment and Toprakkale segment) and the southern strand of EAFZ (Gölbaşı segment, Amanos sgment), Engizek Fault Zone, Kahramanmaraş Fault Zone and The Narlı segment of DSFZ. An earthquake, occurred in Kahramanmaraş, 1795, is mentioned a manuscript named Divan-ı Hasmi which is found at Koyunoğlu Library in Konya. According to manuscript the Mercalli Intensity of the earthquake has calculated as eight and the magnitude is seven. The calculations made have strengthened the possibility of earthquake occurncy on the Gölbaşı segment of EAFZ.
Use of Moran’s I and robust statistics to separate geochemical anomalies in Jiurui area (Southeast China)
Separation of geochemical anomalies from background plays an important role in the study of exploration geochemistry. The limitations of commonly used methods are not taken into account spatial correlation, variability a...
TRACE FOSSILS FROM DEEP SEA SEDIMENTS OF THE LATE EOCENE CEYLAN FORMATION, GELİBOLU PENINSULA (SW THRACE, TURKEY)
In this study, trace fossils of the Ceylan Formation (Late Eocene) in the area NW of Fındıklı village and on the coast of the Ece Bay the Gelibolu Peninsula are identified for the first time. They occur in gray siltstone...
MOLLUSCAN BIOSTRATIGRAPHY OF EARLY MIOCENE DEPOSITS OF THE KALE-TAVAS AND ACIPAYAM BASINS (DENİZLİ, SW TURKEY)
In the present work, a stratigraphic framework of the early Miocene units of the Kale-Tavas and Acıpayam deposits is proposed. Two stratigraphic sections from the brackish-marine deposits of Aquitanian (Yenidere formatio...
Determination of predominant site period of loose terestrial units (Caliche) by microtremor measurements
The caliche profi les that have been observed in arid-semi arid climate regions can be described as terrestrial formations which are vertical succession and composed predominantly of calcium carbonate. At the top of the...
Selandian benthic foraminiferal assemblages of the Southwestern Burdur (South of Lake Yarışlı, Western Turkey) and some taxonomic revisions
In this study, new genera and species are described. These three new genera are Neosistanites (type species Sistanites iranica), Parahaymanella (type species Parahaymanella hakyemezae) and Pseudohottingerina (type specie...
