A breast abscess caused by Actinomyces radingae
Journal Title: Journal of Microbiology and Infectious Diseases - Year 2016, Vol 6, Issue 2
Abstract
Actinomyces radingae is a rare isolate in clinical specimens. We describe a case of a postmenopausal woman presenting with a breast abscess caused by A. radingae. To our knowledge, this is the second description of a case of a breast infection due to this pathogen. Detection of Streptobacillus moniliformis in whole blood by real-time PCR and review of clinical cases 2004-2015 in New York State
Objectives: Early identification of Streptobacillus moniliformis infections that cause rat bite fever (RBF) can be challenging and treatment of these infections is important for the reduction of morbidity and mortality....
Expansion of plasmid mediated blaACT-2 among Pseudomonas aeruginosa associated with hospital infection and its transcriptional response under cephalosporin stress
Objectives: Organisms harboring multiple plasmid mediated β-lactamases are major concerns in nosocomial infections. Among these plasmid mediated β-lactamases, ACT (EBC family) is a clinically important enzyme capable of...
Molecular epidemiology of extended-spectrum beta-lactamase-producing Escherichia coli
Objectives: E. coli O25b-ST131 has disseminated worldwide in hospitals and the community. The objective of this study was to determine the extent to which E. coli O25b-ST131 accounts for extended-spectrum beta-lactamase...
Intestinal parasitic infections in leukemic patients with diarrhea
Objectives: Leukemic patients are at increased risk of severe infections with parasites. Moreover, intestinal parasites can lead to severe diarrhea in patients with immunosuppression. The purpose of this study is to deci...
Hookworm in the terminal ileum:a common cause of severe anemia residing in a rare location
Adult Hookworms usually live in the duodenum and jejunum and can be recovered endoscopically for the diagnosis of chronic anemia. This report describes an interesting case where adult hookworm (Ancylostoma duodenale) was...
