A federation of simulations based on cellular automata in cyber-physical systems
Journal Title: EAI Endorsed Transactions on Context-aware Systems and Applications - Year 2016, Vol 3, Issue 7
Abstract
In cyber-physical system (CPS), cooperation between a variety of computational and physical elements usually poses difficulties to current modelling and simulation tools. Although much research has proposed to address those challenges, most solutions do not completely cover uncertain interactions in CPS. In this paper, we present a new approach to federate simulations for CPS. A federation is a combination of, and coordination between simulations upon a standard of communication. In addition, a mixed simulation is defined as several parallel simulations federated in a common time progress. Such simulations run on the models of physical systems, which are built based on cellular automata theory. The experimental results are performed on a federation of three simulations of forest fire spread, river pollution diffusion and wireless sensor network. The obtained results can be utilized to observe and predict the behaviours of physical systems in their interactions.

Exploiting Nonnegative Matrix Factorization with Mixed Group Sparsity Constraint to Separate Speech Signal from Single-channel Mixture with Unknown Ambient Noise
This paper focuses on solving a challenging speech enhancement problem: improving the desired speech from a single-channel audio signal containing high-level unspecified noise (possibly environmental noise, music, other...
Chronological states of viewer’s intentions using hidden Markov models and features of eye movement
To determine the possibility of predicting viewer’s internal states using the hidden Markov model, several features of eye movements were introduced to the model. Performance was measured using the data from a set of eye...
Pancreas Contour Detection Based On Shearlet Domain In Low Quality Medical Images
Medical images are very useful in diagnosis and treatment. The low quality medical image will be difficult for the doctor to find abnormalities in the image. One of the difficulties for the doctor is how to clarify parts...
Model Integrating Fuzzy Argument with Neural Network Enhancing the Performance of Active Queue Management
The bottleneck control by active queue management mechanisms at network nodes is essential. In recent years, some researchers have used fuzzy argument to improve the active queue management mechanisms to enhance the netw...
Representing and Reasoning with the Internet of Things: a Modular Rule-Based Model for Ensembles of Context-Aware Smart Things
Context-aware smart things are capable of computational behaviour based on sensing the physical world, inferring context from the sensed data, and acting on the sensed context. A collection of such things can form what w...
