A review of studies on docosahexaenoic and eicosapentaenoic acids

Journal Title: Science Paper Online - Year 2007, Vol 2, Issue 2

Abstract

Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) are bioactive micro-substance and necessary highly unsaturated fatty acids (HUFAs) in human and animals including fish, playing an important role in the process of hosts’ reproduction, growth and development. Accordingly, more and more researchers are interested in their research. The present paper reviews the studies on DHA and EPA, especially updated studies on their metabolism for promoting their application and further studies in fish and other animals.
