A Simple and Effective Method for Preparation of Chitosan from Chitin

Abstract

Background- Chitosan is the most abundant natural amino polysaccharide. Researchers have found that chitosan is biocompatible, biodegradable and nontoxic, which have made wide applicability in the pharmaceutical field. Methods- Chitosan was prepared by deacetylation of chitin and characterized by U.V Spectrophotometry, FTIR (Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy), DLS (Dynamic Light Scattering), and Scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Results- The present study showed that Chitosan was successfully prepared by deacetylation of chitin. The obtained chitosan was characterized for further study. Conclusion- Our study confirms the preparation by Chitosan from Chitin for further study.
