A STUDY ON SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH AND METHODS

Abstract
Methodology is very important in scientific research. In this article, firstly the conceptual framework of scientific research and the research process in social sciences are explained. The process of scientific data collection and analysis is mentioned and generalisations about the methods are mentioned. A broad perspective on qualitative and quantitative research methods is among the objectives. Titles are also important as they represent the research message. For this reason in the research part of the study, doctoral theses were scanned according to their titles on the website of the council of higher education. In this way, theses with expressions such as qualitative, quantitative, mixed method in the title were reached. Theses were categorised as health sciences, social sciences and natural sciences. The study includes doctoral theses completed as of 2020. The method used in the title was mostly specified in the field of social sciences. In addition, it was found that the quantitative research method was mentioned in a small number of titles. The maximum number of studies indicating the method in the title was reached in 2023.
