A SYSTEMATIC APPROACH TO TEXTILE PRODUCT DESIGN: CONCEPTUAL DESIGN METHOD
Journal Title: The Journal of International Social Research - Year 2016, Vol 9, Issue 44
Abstract
Design presented by the use of prescriptive design models concludes to be more direct and rapid when compared to the descriptive design models. Since textile, as an industrial product in essence, has its own design paradigms, it has to define its own methodology in an attempt to form a scheduled and programmed design process. This study is conducted in order for the textile design to be accepted as a discipline requiring a scientific methodology and appropriate design methods to be employed in the process of textile design in need of mental activity, creativity and uniqueness. For this reason, Conceptual design method (the Pahl and Beitz model) is employed as an engineering design method to investigate critical and complicated design problems. After the Introduction part, second Part deals with the textile and Design paradigm, third Part explains the basics of Conceptual Design approach, fourth and following parts explain the proposed textile design model whereas the Conclusion part discusses on the findings of the research.
