Accurate, simple and quantitative UV- Spectroscopic method for the estimation of Sofosbuvir in pure and marketed formulations

Journal Title: Indian Journal of Research in Pharmacy and Biotechnology - Year 2017, Vol 5, Issue 5

Abstract

A simple, accurate and precise UV spectroscopy method has been developed for the estimation of Sofosbuvir. It is a medication used for the treatment of Hepatitis C. It inhibits the hepatitis CNS 5B protein. It appears to have a high barrier to the development of resistance. Here we have developed a UV spectroscopic method for the quantitative determination of Sofosbuvir in the bulk and tablet dosage form. The parameters i.e., linearity, precision, accuracy, limit of detection and limit of quantification were studied according to international conference on harmonization guidelines (ICH). The determination was carried out at an absorption maximum of 259nm using 0.1N HCl, as solvent. In the present method, linearity over the concentration range of Sofosbuvir was found to be 3-15µg/ml, with a correlation coefficient of 0.9998. The results of analysis have been validated statistically for linearity, accuracy and precision, LOD and LOQ of the processed method. The developed method was successfully applied for the quantitative analysis of commercially available dosage form.
