ACOUSTIC PERFORMANCES OF CONCERT HALLS IN IZMIR

Abstract

There is very important that audiences hearing quality and hall’s acoustic quality on culture and art performance designed halls. Whether the concert hall, the opera, the theatre or multi-purpose hall; there are very important indicators for culture, art and human such as transmitting the same level of volume to all listeners position, speech intelligibility, fullness of tone, liveness, timbre of music, echo, undistorted sounds, prevention of acoustic defects such as acoustic shadows to appropriateness of the environment for sufficiently low level of noise. Will we give our attention for acoustic topics as we do for our concert hall architectural projects, and can we support our art and culture understanding with adequate creative solutions? Therefore, do we know our own venues quality and acoustic performances how much appropriate with universal standards? This Project is based results on twenty-five Concert halls’ acoustic measurements, architectural and acoustic finishing characteristics, to investigate whether there is compliance with the international standards, which are located in Izmir Metropolitan boundary.
