Activities of war prisoners voluntary units in all of the Russian Empire in 1914–1919

Abstract
The article deals with the process of creation and operation of national voluntary units formed out of prisoners of war. Particular attention is devoted to the Czechoslovak Corps, created as a propaganda element, but eventually it became a tangible military force, and during the Civil War in Russia it played a rather significant role. Attention is also paid to the southern Slavs prisoners of war and their Yugoslav Corps, which was also of considerable military importance during the period of destruction of the Russian Empire and during the Civil War. The peculiarities of creation of Sich Riflemen Legion, which was partially formed out of Ukrainian war prisoners, are revealed. It is mentioned about the Polish voluntary war prisoners formations, as well as similar military formations created by the Bolsheviks, consisting not only of Slavic prisoners of war, but also of the Germans and the Hungarians.
