An unusual case of low grade endometrial stromal sarcoma in young girl - A case report

Journal Title: Medpulse International Journal of Pathology - Year 2018, Vol 5, Issue 1

Abstract

Uterine sarcomas are relatively rare tumors of mesodermal origin. They constitute 2% to 6% of uterine malignancies and occurs primarily in the 4th and 5th decades. Stromal tumours are of two types-endometrial stromal nodule, endometrial stromal sarcoma low grade (LGESS) and high grade (HGESS) type. Here we report a case of low grade endometrial stromal sarcoma, in a 16 years old unmarried young girl presenting as profuse PV bleeding and rapid enlargement of a uterus. Despite the rarity of the tumor, one has to consider the possibility of ESS in cases with presentation of rapid enlargement of a uterus for proper diagnosis
