Abstract
Maritime transport is of paramount importance for the implementation of foreign trade (international and intercontinental) links. It provides more than 4/5 of all international traffic. One of the activities of Maritime transport is the carriage of dangerous goods. These goods possess hazardous properties: explosiveness, flammability, toxicity, infection, radiation hazard, exilement and corrosivity. To ensure the safe transport of dangerous goods by sea, there are a number of conventions regulating such transport. In these conventions given the classification of hazardous substances, procedures for dealing with dangerous goods, procedure of action in emergency situations and instructions, obligations and responsibilities. To implement the transportation of dangerous goods requires the prior provision of detailed information on the characteristics of such goods, especially when arriving at ports and airports or other locations where high concentrations of dangerous goods could become critical. The use of appropriate standardized information, as prescribed by the conventions, allows you to ensure a smooth handling of hazardous goods and thereby avoid delays or even prohibition of the importation of dangerous goods into a pre-planned locations.
