Analiza wybranych napędów alternatywnych stosowanych w autobusach szynowych

Abstract

The concept of low-emission transport is most commonly associated with rail transport. This type of vehicles have many advantages – they are ecological, relatively quiet and efficient (can transport multiple passengers simultaneously). In addition, the European Union is increasingly emphasizing the need to rebuild rail transport, which has a fundamental impact on the development of many cities, increasing their economic and tourist potential, as well as contributing to environment improvement. The article discusses selected solutions used in modern railbuses, which help fulfil the transport demand. These vehicles, equipped with advanced exhaust gas aftertreatment systems, powered by liquid and gaseous biofuels as well as alternative power sources, have a much smaller environmental impact. An innovative solution in the form of a fuel cell bus that uses hydrogen to generate electricity has been presented. A solution that has grown in popularity in recent years. Another modern solution among rail transport is the hybrid railbus with hybrid drive systems, with a hybrid powertrain that consists of a reciprocating combustion engine, an electric motor with power transmission, and a set of high-efficiency electric power storage devices.
