Journal Title: International Research Journal of Applied and Basic Sciences - Year 2013, Vol 5, Issue 4
Abstract
Medicinal plants play a major role in all the traditional system of medicine and contain the rich source of natural products. Most of which have been used for human welfare especially to cure disease caused by pathogenic microorganisms without any side effects. The antimicrobial effect of hydroalcolic extract of M. vulgare four pathogenic bacteria namely, Pseudomonas aeroginosa, Shigella shinga,Bacillus cereus,Staphylococcus aureus weredetermined using broth microdiluation method. In total, M. vulgare was a potent antimicrobial activity respectively against gram-positiveand gram-negative bacteria. The present studies confirm the use of mixes ofM. vulgare extraction as widespread antimicrobial agent. Further research is required toevaluate the practical values of therapeutic applications.
