ARTISTIC CONDITIONALITY IN DEPICTION OF ESSENTIAL PROCESSES IN COSCIOUSNESS: TRAGICOMEDY «MAKLENA GRASA» BY MYKOLA KULISH

Abstract
The article deals with the artistic embodiment of the problem that concerns to consciousness transformation under the influence of outer and inner factors. The article gives a detailed analysis of the problem of fanaticism, moral and psychological deformations. This problem is shown in an absurd discourse. Mykola Kulish comprehended event that happened in Poland during economic crisis at the beginning of the XXth century: bankrupt broker tried to hire a person for his own murder because of getting insurance for his family. A playwright formed the whole complex of problems of philosophical, psychological and social character which reflected serious challenges to human consciousness at that period. Abstract representation proves the universal character of comprehended problems: precise indications on Polish reality of 1920–30 are combined with observation on essential changes in human psychology and consciousness. The aim of this study is to show the way of playwright’s representation global problems of spiritual development with the projection on the personality of thirteen years old girl Maklena. Mykola Kulish depicts social and ideological conditions of her existence and shows its influence on her consciousness. The playwright distinguishes her strong and weak points. Maklena displays more moral strength and power of mind than adults but at the same time she is defenseless against the destructive influence of communist ideas. Mykola Kulish shows the reasons of fanatic passion for ideas as the attempt of injustice overcoming and formation of alternative world view. Tragicomedy represents social and economic declination, crisis processes in public and individual consciousness and their mutual reflections. The playwright depicts deformation in heroes’ psychology in idealistic and materialistic position.
