ASPECTS CONCERNING GERMINATION AND INITIAL STAGES OF DEVELOPMENT OF SOME SPECIES OF ASTERACEAE FAMILY (HELIANTHEAE) CULTIVATED IN BOTANICAL GARDEN IASSY
Journal Title: Analele Stiintifice ale Universitatii Alexandru Ioan Cuza din Iasi, Serie noua, Sectiunea II a. Biologie vegetala - Year 2018, Vol 64, Issue
Abstract
Studies regarding the germination of seven species of the Asteraceae family (Heliantheae) have been done in laboratory conditions. Differences regarding the way the seed breaks and the shape of the cotyledons, which are mostly elliptical, have been noticed. The species Coreopsis tinctoria, Echinacea purpurea, Rudbeckia hirta and Tagetes patula have abnormal cotyledons, which may result in tricotyly. The first leaves of the plants appear in pairs for annual species and one by one for perennial ones.
