AYURVEDIC MANAGEMENT OF PARKINSON’S DISEASE (KAMPAVATA)-A CASE REPORT

Abstract

Parkinson’s disease is a neurological disorder characterised by resting tremors, slowness of movements, rigidity, gait disturbances/ postural instability. In Ayurveda this disease can be correlated with Kampavata as it is characterised by symptoms like Sarvanga kampa(tremors all over the body) or Shirkampa (shaking head). It is a Vataj Vyadhi. A 75 years old female patient represented with complains of tremors in hands, difficulty in walking and movements from last three years. Patient was treated with ayurvedic oral medications and panchkarma therapies in OPD/IPD. She was admitted and Panchkarma therapies like sarvang abhyanga and basti were performed in IPD for 21 days. After 21 days patient was discharged with remarkable relief in tremors and difficulty in walking and movements.
