Abstract
Рассматриваются условия и факторы, которые способствовали созданию Белорусской Народной Республики в 1918 г. Определены особенности геополитических изменений на белорусских землях в связи с заключением 3 марта 1918 г. Брестского мирного договора. Проанализированы подходы разных политических групп к проблеме самоопределения Беларуси, поиска возможных союзников среди руководства больших стран и правительств соседних государств. Очерчена деятельность БНР, направленная на сохранение территориальной целостности Беларуси, международное признание нового государственного образования, показаны усилия по национально-культурному возрождению страны.
