The ancient city of Belgorod (Kyiv suburb) in the early XXth century was one of the most important objects of archaeological research. The interest in it appeared thanks to Vincent Khvoika’s excavations that started in 1909. The archaeological excavations had the considerable resonance in the society that is why Kyiv department of IMHC organized the trips there. Pavlo Alioshin was one of the participants of those trips. His expressive quality photos served as illustrations for the descriptions of the excavations and were preserved in the contemporary press and some brochures. In addition, the pre-revolutionary album the archival case contains 17 more black and white unsigned and undated photographs taken in the late 1920's–in the 1930's.
