Biometrical observations on Populus ×canadensis Moench (Salicaceae) leaves
Journal Title: Annals of West University of Timisoara, ser. Biology - Year 2016, Vol 19, Issue 1
Abstract
The paper presents a research model of leaf investigation, based on biometrical measurements and morphological observations. In literature, there are only few studies concerning the biometrical investigation and analysis applied on spontaneous and cultivar plants leaves. The article comprises biometrical investigations on a culture hybrid Populus×canadensis Moench leaves. The measurements and morphological observations were performed on 40 mature leaves collected from the top, middle and base of the trees crown. The measurements included: linear measurements, percentage ratio, angular measurements and the leaf surface as well. The biometric measurements were the basis of a mathematical calculation of the average values on the studied genotype.
