Insecticide Residues in Abelmoscous esculantus(Lady’s fingers) Crop Grown in Treated Soil
Journal Title: International Journal of Research in Chemistry and Environment (IJRCE) - Year 2011, Vol 1, Issue 1
Abstract
The pesticides, which leave residues in the soil for a fairly long time, are easily translocated in plants to contaminate their edible portions significantly. This results in constant exposure to humans and animals to pesticides and contamination of their flesh, blood, milk and meat. These situations have threatened nature’s ecosystem seriously. This investigations on different concentrations of organochlorine insecticides (lindane, aldrine) & organophosphorous insecticide (Monocrotophos) with respect to a major tropical vegetable crop of Aabelmoschus esculantus (Lady’s finger or OKRA) under similar conditions have been the pivotal text of this paper and were performed by pot culture analysis and Thin Layer Chromatography (T.L.C.) techniques. The results showed that at very high levels of pesticides and its constant exposure disturbs soil eco balance irreversibly.

Studies on the Effect of Antioxidants on the Long-term Storage stability and Oxidation Stability of Jatropha Biodiesel
Biodiesel is defined as the mono alkyl esters of vegetable oils. Biodiesel is more susceptible to oxidation or autoxidation during long term storage than conventional petro diesel. This paper presents results of studies...

The general tolerance levels of heterotrophic bacterial populations to one or more metals can be determined by assessing their resistance to such metals. Soil bacterial communities from one uncontaminated...
Photolysis of Metribuzin in Water under Direct Sunlight - Identification of Photo-transformation Products by LC-MS-MS Electrospray Tandem Mass Spectrometry and Impact on Aquatic Species (Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata)
Photolysis of a systemic herbicide metribuzin was studied in Milli-Q water and in three different aqueous buffer solutions of pH 5.0, 7.0 and pH 9.0. A commercial formulation of the herbicide having the active strength 1...
Production of Xylanase by Aspergillus flavus FPDN1 on Pearl millet bran: Optimization of Culture Conditions and Application in Bioethanol Production
The production of extracellular xylanase by a locally isolated strain of Aspergillus flavus FPDN1 was studied for optimization of cultural conditions and saccharification followed by bioethanol production. Among the v...
