Abstract
The article examines the issue of civil osadnytstvo as a component of Polish agrarian policy in the western Ukrainian lands of the interwar period. The author draws attention to the fact that despite significant differences between military and civil osadnytstvo, both were intended to strengthen the Polish presence on the “Eastern Kresy”. This policy did not lead to resolution of the agrarian issue, but aggravated national-political contradictions in theWest Ukrainian region
