COMPARATIVE ANTIBACTERIAL STUDY OF CONVOLVULUS ARVENSIS COLLECTED FROM DIFFERENT AREAS OF KHYBER PAKHTUNKHWA, PAKISTAN

Abstract

The present study aim to evaluate the in-vitro antibacterial activity of methanolic extracts and subsequent solvent soluble fractions of Convolvulus arvenisis, collected from three different regions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, Pakistan, against B. subtilis, E. coli and P. aeruginosa. Among the 54 tested fractions, stem methanolic crude extract of Convolvulus arvenisis collected from Peshawar region presented the highest anti-P. aeruginosa activity and was effective against all bacterial strains tested.
