Comparison of hemodynamic stability of combined spinal anesthesia with low dose spinal anesthesia and epidural volume extension by saline as compared to epidural anaesthesia for patients undergoing elective lower limb surgery
Journal Title: Medpulse International Journal of Anesthesiology - Year 2018, Vol 5, Issue 3
Abstract
Administration of saline in epidural space following intrathecal drug administration constitutes Epidural Volume Extension. In our study we involved 40 patients who were planned to undergo elective lower limb surgery, who were randomized into two groups of 20 each. 20 patients in Group EV received low dose of spinal anesthesia with epidural volume extension by saline, and 20 patients in Group E received conventional epidural anesthesia. From our study it was seen that the patients in Group EV had quicker onset of sensory block, and stable hemodynamic parameters as compared to patients in Group E.

Comparative study of intrathecal isobaric levobupivacaine 0.5% with isobaric ropivacaine 0.5% for infra umbilical surgeries
Objective: To compare the block characteristics and haemodynamic stability of intrathecal isobaric levobupivacaine 0.5% with isobaric ropivacaine 0.5% for infra umbilical surgeries under spinal anaesthesia. Method: 100 p...
A comparative study of haemodynamic parameters using Etomidate and Ketofol as induction agents
Background: Etomidate is routinely used for intravenous induction where haemodynamic stability is essential. Ketofol, an ad-mixture of Propofol and Ketamine, which also has a stable haemodynamic profile, is recently bein...
A randomised clinical trial to compare the butorphanol and nalbuphine as adjuvants in ultrasound guided supraclavicular brachial plexus block
Background: Supraclavicular brachial plexus block provides complete anaesthesia for surgeries of upper limbs especially below the mid humerus.Using ultrasound for blocks not only increases the success rate but also reduc...
A comparative study on two doses of clonidine 45mcg Vs 60mcg added to 0.5% hyperbaric upivacaine given intrathecally for infra umbilical surgeries
Background: This study was designed to evaluate the addition of two doses of clonidine ( 45 μg and 60μg) added to hyperbaric bupivacaine (0.5%) 2.75ml in spinal anaesthesia for sub umbilical surgeries. Aim of Study: Time...
Effect of intrathecal ketamine as an adjuvant on the dose of intrathecal bupivacaine
Background: A randomized control study was done to evlauate the effect of ketamine on the dose of bupivacaine when added as an adjuvant to intrathecal bupivacaine. Materials and Methods: 90 patients were divided randomly...
