Comparison of transformational and interactive leadership styles with organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) of Mazandaran province municipalities’ employees

Abstract

This research was conducted to compare transformational & interactive leadership styles & organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) of Mazandaran province municipalities’ employees. The research is descriptive & of correlation type. Sampling method was in the form of census due to the fact that statistical population was limited & 52 Mayors were questioned. Sample size was 356 employees (for employees’ population) according to Morgan Table which were selected using categorical accidental sampling method. Data collection tool was pudsakef OCB questionnaire (alpha=81%) & Varenzbark leadership styles questionnaire (alpha= 85%) & were analyzed by means of SPSS & with t-test. Results show that there is significant relationship between transformational and interactive leadership styles of managers and OCB in dimensions humanity, dutifulness, chivalry, respect and glorification and transformational leadership style is more effective than interactive leadership style, i.e. transformational leadership style brings more OCB among employees.
