Competitive Strategy of Islamic Educational Institutions Based on Rbv and Porter’s Five Forces: A Case Study at Diniyyah Putri Lampung

Journal Title: Journal of Economics, Finance and Management Studies - Year 2025, Vol 8, Issue 06

Abstract

This Study Aims to analyze the competitive strategy of diniyyah putri lampung, an islamic educational institution in indonesia, in response to a significant decline in student enrollment and increasing competition in the islamic education sector. the research employs a qualitative descriptive approach, using two strategic frameworks: the resource-based view (rbv) and porter’s five forces. The rbv analysis identifies internal strengths such as a distinctive islamic curriculum, qualified teaching staff, and a strong institutional reputation, which are valuable and rare resources with competitive potential. meanwhile, porter’s five forces reveal high external pressures, particularly from the bargaining power of buyers, threats from substitute educational options, and intense rivalry among similar institutions. the study concludes that a focused differentiation strategy—centered on curriculum innovation, teacher development, and digital transformation—can strengthen the institution’s competitive position. these findings offer strategic insights for islamic schools facing similar challenges in a rapidly evolving education landscape.
