Congnitive Radio Networks Using Orthoganal Frequency Spectrum Sensing
Journal Title: International Journal of Electronics Communication and Computer Technology - Year 2014, Vol 4, Issue 6
Abstract
”Cognitive Radio is a radio for wireless communications in which either a network or a wireless node changes its transmission or reception parameters based on the interaction with the environment to communicate efficiently without interfering with licensed users.” This changing of parameters is based on the active monitoring of external and internal radio environment such as radio frequency spectrum, user behavior trends and network state. Simply, the idea behind the cognitive radio paradigm is the utilization of the idle frequency bands allocated to primary users or licensed users by the secondary users or unlicensed users without any interference to primary users’ communications. For the spectrum sensing in Cognitive Radio Networks we are choosing the time-varying nature of wireless channels, such as fading, multipath makes it difficult for wireless system designers to satisfy the ever-increasing expectations of mobile users in terms of data rate and Quality of Service (QoS). The limited radio spectrum and limitation on the processing power availability in the portable handheld unit of mobile user are the other important constraints in designing wireless systems.
