Construction of a Practical Teaching System for Humanistic Medicine Based on Narrative Medicine: Taking the Course Warm Medicine as an Example

Journal Title: Medicine and Philosophy - Year 2024, Vol 45, Issue 1

Abstract

Narrative medicine emphasizes the cultivation of narrative ability, providing a path for the implementation of medical humanities and the practice of humanistic medicine. Based on the theory of narrative medicine, the course Warm Medicine designs a two-tiered progressive practical teaching system covering the entire life cycle of "birth, aging, illness and death". It integrates the cultivation of narrative medicine ability with clinical practice, and trains medical students to use narrative medicine concepts and tools in actual medical scenarios. It focuses on observing and reflecting on the "bio-psycho-social", and making responses and actions. Practice teaching improves medical students' understanding of the nature of medicine, promotes the establishment of intersubjectivity in medical relationships and the formation of a holistic medical diagnostic and therapeutic mindset. The design and construction of this course also contribute to the systematic, standardized, and standardized teaching of medical humanities courses.
