CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY IN FAMILY-OWNED BUSINESSES IN THE SME SECTOR OF THE ENERGY INDUSTRY

Abstract

Small and medium-sized enterprises in Poland is one of the main pillars of the Polish eco-nomy. Its contribution to the national GDP or jobs is invaluable. Micro, small and medium-sized en-terprises also have a significant impact on the socio-economic development at the local, regional and national levels. In contrast, family businesses account for more than 1/3 of the companies forming the Polish SME sector, which is why their role is also very important. While the energy sector is very specific industry, interfering with the natural environment, which is why the issue of corporate social responsibility, which takes into account the interests of society and the environment in developing its strategy and its implementation, is particularly important. Article beyond the theoretical outline of the Polish SME sector of the energy industry and the theory of CSR will show on the example of analysis of family business in the SME sector BH Steel-Energia Sp. z o. o., functioning in the energy sector in analyzed period, how family businesses understand the term CSR and whether the actions of its scope are present in the activities of the company.
