Couples' financial system in Shiite religious jurisprudence

Journal Title: International Research Journal of Applied and Basic Sciences - Year 2014, Vol 8, Issue 8

Abstract

There are various legal systems and methods regarding couples' financial relations, and in each legal system there seems a specific kind of relation. The oldest method is that the husband has complete dominance over wife's properties; and the other method is sharing of properties in which both wife and husband properties are jointly owned by them. Another method is financial independence in that wife and husband both has special properties. Another method is relative sharing. The view point of Shiite religious jurisprudence is financial independence for couples. Couples' financial right includes the rights before marriage, engagement gifts and gift to a bride's mother, rights during marriage, marriage portion and alimony and after marriage inheritance, remuneration, tutorship and conditions settled in marriage contract.
