CREATION OF FUNCTIONAL COATINGS ON MILD STEEL SURFACE AT MULTI-STAGE ELECTRIC-SPARK ALLOYING BY CHROME AND GRAPHITE IN SATURATED ENVIRONMENTS

Abstract

Established that the multi-stage Electric-spark alloying (ESA) by chrome and graphite, which occurs in different environments (air, argon, propane-butane), improves of steel mark 3 surface microhardness to 15 GPa and durability 8 - 32.5 times. This is due to the presence of carbides, nitrides in the surface layers, which were formed by the interaction of anodes materials with elements of saturated environmens (nitrogen, carbon) for extreme process conditions ESA.
