Autor próbuje znaleźć klucz do zrozumienia psychozy i poszukuje wskazówek dla codziennej pracy terapeutycznej. Podkreśla znaczenie relacji i opisuje podejście terapeutyczne stymulujące proces zdrowienia i odczytuje, zapisane przed czterdziestu laty, praktyczne zalecenia Profesora. Wyraża przekonanie, że w psychiatrii powinien nastąpić powrót do humanistycznego podejścia w duchu Antoniego Kępińskiego i pogłębienie wrażliwości na fundamentalne potrzeby pacjentów i ich rodzin.
