Das kulinarische Wrocław – Auf der Suche nach der regionalen Identität am Beispiel der Namen für Restaurants in Wrocław

Abstract

Language does not only represent reality, but also creates it. Likewise, it forms our identity, defines as an individual and as a member of a particu- lar social or – in a broader perspective – cultural group. What allows us to identify with a particular language is our cultural, political or national affi iation, the same geographically outlined area and the outside world, which is non-language in its character but aff cts this language signifi antly. Discursive images of reality, in which we participate, are more or less understandable, and thus, more or less ac- cessible. Th article is an attempt to answer the question, what aspects of our non-linguistic knowledge determine (and to what extent) our perception of reality, and hence our belonging to a specifi group of participants in the discourse. The point of reference here constitute occasionalisms (nonce words) present in media public space, which more often than not create sense of the utterances or replace longer syntactic units.
