DEALINNG WITH TRAUMA AND THE HEALING OF MEMORIES

Abstract
Missionaries and aid workers frequently encounter populations that have experienced violence and disruption that results in trauma. This article looks at various aspects of trauma: its symptoms, its medical designation as Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), its epidemiology, and possible modes of healing. It addresses healing both social or collective trauma as well as individual trauma. In concluding, it talks about Christian contributions to healing trauma.
