Destructive Effect of Silver Nanoparticles on Biocontrol Agent Fungi Trichoderma viride and T. harzianum
Journal Title: Caspian Journal of Applied Sciences Research - Year 2012, Vol 1, Issue 12
Abstract
Trichoderma spp. serves as biocontrol and growth promoting agents for many crop plants due to their antagonistic properties against plant pathogens. Nanoparticles have become of an interest relatively recently, mostly because of their possible use in diverse technologies. In this research we have investigated the role of silver nanoparticles on growth rate of two biocontrol agent species of Trichoderma viride and T. harzianum by measuring the diameter of colonies of fungi on potato dextrose agar and the dry weight of mycelia culture medium. In this test in order to determine the minimum inhibitory concentration, 25, 50, 100 and 150 ppm of silver nanoparticles were used. General Regression Analysis was used to determine both the time and concentration variable and the possible interactions. The results showed that silver nanoparticles caused inhibited the growth of the two species of fungi. In this paper we suggest that silver nanoparticles, because of the harmful effects on environment, should be used less.

Effect of Government Spending and Macro-Economic Uncertainty on Private Investment: Evidence from Iran
This study investigates the effect of government spending and macroeconomic uncertainty on Private sector investment in Iran during 1971 to 2008. Co-integration and vector error-correction models are used to obtain the e...
Optimization of Carbon Nano Tubes Synthesis using Fluidized bed Chemical Vapor Deposition: A Statistical Approach
Fluidized Bed Chemical Vapor Deposition (FBCVD) has been introduced as a promising method for carbon nanotubes (CNTs) synthesis because of its large scale, low cost and high yield production. However, there is no clear r...
Optimal Pricing and Ordering Policies for a Two-Layer Supply Chain with Imperfect Quality Items under Two Inspection Scenarios
This paper developed integrated production–inventory-marketing models for a two-stage supply chain consisting of one vendor and one buyer. The aim of the paper was to decrease the inconsistency between theory and p...
Age Groups Population Dynamic with an Arbitrary Unit Time
In this paper we present a mathematical model for the age groups population dynamics. The model has this ability to choose an arbitrary unit time. Series solutions of the equations of this model for three age groups unde...
