Determination of Optimum Cutting Parameters Affecting the Surface Form Properties in the Ductile Stainless Steels with Gray Relational Analysis Method

Abstract

In this study, the effects of cutting parameters with different coatings (TiAlN and TiN) on drilling performance were investigated. Drilling operations were carried out on duplex stainless steels by drilling holes 20 mm deep with 5 mm diameter drills using cooling fluid. Three different cutting speeds (15, 20 and 25 m / min) and 3 different cutting feed values (0.05, 0.075 and 0.1 mm / rev) were used in the experiments. The effects of different drills and cutting parameters on surface form properties have been measured. The experiments were carried out according to the L18 orthogonal test design. The obtained deviation from cylindricality and the deviation values were optimized by means of gray relational analysis method and the appropriate cutoff parameter was determined as A2B1C1.
