Determination of the optimal conditions of the work of a hollow scrubber for gas cleaning from solid particles

Journal Title: Проблеми загальної енергетики - Year 2016, Vol 0, Issue 2

Abstract

Based on the analysis of the physical picture of transfer phenomena in a three-phase flow, we have composed a complete list of quantities that describe the behavior of a polydisperse three-phase mixture in a hollow scrubber. At the same time, some of these quantities are constant or vary within a very narrow range; furthermore, we may not change arbitrarily the characteristics of flue gases and volatile ash; scrubber height, initial velocities and liquid specific flow rate affect the efficiency of cleaning monotonically. Hence, excluding these quantities, we have come to a conclusion that the optimal conditions of scrubber operation should be searched in the space of parameters of the drops distribution by sizes. We have established that, over a wide range of determining parameters, the optimal conditions correspond to that domain where the distribution mode is minimal. For one of numerical experiments, optimization enables one to decrease particle emission to the atmosphere by a factor of 1.52.
