Abstract
History is a living document of the past. Nothing is fixed in the world and nothing stays the same. Everything changes, time changes. The present becomes the past, the future becomes the present. But the past does not change, the past remains the past. It just takes time to rub it again and again. In the collision with time, some go under the dome of time, or endure adversity and sustain their existence. One such ancient dilapidated past is the Manohali Zamindari and zamindar house. This zamindar house is located in Tapan, 30 km from Balurghat, the capital city of Dakshin Dinajpur district. The building was built by Tarachand Bandyopadhyay, the zamindar of Sinni village in Katwar who established his zamindari in the area after the Battle of Plassey. At that time the construction cost of the building was 64000 rupees. Later generations of Zamindars were known to sympathize with the freedom fighters. Zamindar family members also actively participated in the freedom struggle. This Manohali village existed during a copper plate of Pala Emperor Madan Pala. The Manohali copper plate is found this Manohali village. Here is a lot of history, folklore, and folklore associated with it. This zamindar building has a wonderful and charming architectural display. This easily catches everyone’s attention. A lot of ancient and modern Indian history is associated with this Manohali village and Manohali Zamindari.
