Does appearance matter? Impact of particle shape on nanosilver characteristics

Journal Title: CHEMIK nauka-technika-rynek - Year 2011, Vol 65, Issue 5

Abstract

Advanced studies on nanomaterials allowed to establish that nanoparticles take on different shapes depending on reaction conditions and initial concentration of substrates. As is the case with other nanomolecules, nanosilver particles can be classified as one- , two- or three-dimensional. Each of these classes is represented by several different shapes. The authors’ intention is to present a general characteristic of nanosilver occurring as nanoparticles of various shapes. in addition, the paper discusses the different strategies aimed at obtaining nanosilver particles of selected shape.
