Journal Title: Організаційна психологія. Економічна психологія - Year 2017, Vol 11, Issue 4
Abstract
The emotional state of the military personnel is an important indicator of their psychological readiness to participate in combat operations. In conducting combat operations, special attention should be paid to the servicemen with low combat stress resistance, which can lead to their developing negative emotional states. The early manifestations of negative emotional states include moodiness, mental fatigue and minor controlled affective disturbances. Over time, mental stress increases, motivation decreases, affective excitements become stronger and uncontrollable and fear turns into permanent anxiety. The next most important stage of the development of negative emotional states is the transformation of anxiety into stress and stress into frustration. The negative manifestations of frustration may include aggression, depression and apathy, which in turn can lead to mental disorders, neuroses and suicide. Timely detection of negative emotional states is a key to providing quality psychological assistance to combatants who have returned from the zone of military conflict. The large number of troops involved in combat operations in eastern Ukraine necessitate the use of simple techniques to diagnose negative emotional states. In our investigation, the eight-color Lüscher test was used as the key instrument in diagnosing the respondents' emotional states. The test is simple and easy to use and interpret, does not require testers' special training and is interesting to testees. It can be used to determine various emotional states of the military and combatants. The modified eight-color Luscher test (L.M. Sobchik) allows identifying the servicemen's negative emotional states and the level of their stress resistance.
