Dynamic treatment of tooth wear in patients with bruxism. A case report

Journal Title: Prosthodontics - Year 2012, Vol 62, Issue 2

Abstract

One of the consequences of bruxism is tooth wear. Planning the rehabilitation of patients with tooth wear is a task that requires expertise and appropriate dental skills of a dentist. The idea of tooth wear dynamic treatment involves a possible gradual introduction of more and more invasive methods of dental treatment. The therapy should be started with preventive treatment, Dahl effect and the patient’s lost tissue restoration with composite. Owing to the use of composite we can avoid teeth grinding and save the patient’s own tissue. It also enables postponing possible endodontic treatment, root posts and prosthetic crowns. In the case of damage this approach makes the repair much easier.
