Abstract
Ensuring the safety and proper protection of children's rights has become one of the most important tasks of public institutions. Establishment of the Ombudsman for Children has meant the creation of an independent institution dedicated to the protection of the child rights. The Ombudsman, in his activities, undertakes a number of actions towards the public authorities in order to intensify the activities for the children’s rights. The article presents the activities of the Ombudsman for Children towards the Ministry of the Interior and Administration in the aspect of improving the safety and state of respect for children's rights in Poland. Zapewnienie bezpieczeństwa i odpowiedniej ochrony praw przy-sługującym dzieciom stało się jednym z najważniejszych zadań realizowanych przez instytucje publiczne. Powołanie urzędu Rzecznika Praw Dziecka oznaczało powsta-nie niezależnej instytucji, działającej na rzecz ochrony praw dziecka. Rzecznik w swej aktywności podejmuje szereg działań wobec organów władzy publicznej w celu zintensyfikowania działań na rzecz praw dzieci. Artykuł przedstawia działalność Rzecznika Praw Dziecka wobec Ministerstwa Spraw Wewnętrznych i Administracji w aspekcie poprawy bezpieczeństwa i stanu przestrzegania praw dziecka w Polsce w latach 2008-2016.
