Ecological Investigation of Suitable Habitat for Rafflesia magnifica in Maragusan, Davao De Oro, Philippines
Journal Title: Psychology and Education: A Multidisciplinary Journal - Year 2025, Vol 31, Issue 8
Abstract
This study aimed to identify the current distribution and ecological factors affecting the habitat suitability of Rafflesia magnifica. GIS and AHP were used to determine the suitability of various environmental and edaphic factors as well as the abundance of host plants influencing the growth, development, and distribution of the species. Only 35 ha and 14 ha for high and very high suitability levels, respectively were indicated by the AHP model. The species' threats are severe due to habitat loss, deforestation, and unauthorized access to the sites. Conservation strategies that benefit the communities and the environment were suggested for ensuring biodiversity in the area.
