EDITORIAL PROFESSION THROUGH THE PRISM OF THE PRISM OF ANALYSIS OF SCIENTIFIC SOURCES AND EMPIRICAL STUDIES

Abstract

Abstract. The author makes an attempt to characterize the editorial profession through the prism of the analysis of scientific sources and empirical researches. The article analyzes the state of preparation of the modern editor for the specialty 061 Journalism in higher educational institutions of the I-II levels of accreditation. The problems of preparation in this direction in the system of modern education are shown. There are ways to improve the preparation of editors. The editorial profession becomes one of the leading in media and publishing industries, as it combines the relevant skills, abilities and competences of the editor as a literary worker, manager, developer of electronic publications or Internet sites. All that requires a thorough analysis of the content and approaches to the preparation of future editors in universities. An urgent problem today is the search of effective professional editors of the specialty 061 Journalism in higher educational institutions of the I-II levels of accreditation. The analysis of the developed scientific sources and empirical studies give grounds for asserting that publishers need an editor who perfectly speaks the native language, knows foreign languages, is able to write a text, see an edition or newspaper, a magazine, a book systematically and conceptually, on a socio-cultural background, on several platforms at once. We agree with researchers who believe that the study of the development of an editorial and publishing shop, new requirements for the effective work of the editor, his professional training should be done now, and the cooperation of scientists and practitioners is also important. First of all, we need a professional conversation about new competencies, editor-publisher functions in the context of technological changes, powerful information flows, changes in the psychology of consumers of publishing products, economic and social challenges, etc. We are convinced that it is worth creating a center and discussing the difficult issues of high-quality training of future professionals, their effective practice, raising the professional level of editors, working out common tools for solving urgent problems related to the quality and culture of the publication, new tendencies and challenges. Such cooperation would be fruitful both for teachers and for practitioners, and for the editorial and publishing process in general.
