EDUCATIONAL POTENTIAL OF THE TEXTBOOK OF THE FOREIGN LANGUAGE OF XX CENTURY

Abstract
The article discusses the educational potential of a textbook on a foreign language based on the analysis of its didactic functions. The views of methodologists on the definition of the educational potential of a modern foreign language textbook have been clarified. The relevance of the development of textbooks, the work on which is considered as an attempt to make a serious step towards solving the problem of implementing innovative technologies for teaching foreign languages, is provided.
