Effect of EDTA on reducing tissue cadmium bioaccumulation and cadmium antagonism related to some mineral micro- and macronutrients in Prussian carp (Carassius gibelio).

Abstract
EDTA is a chelating agent used deliberately in various fields (pulp and paper industry, detergents industry, food industry, medicine, biomedical labs) in order to sequester metal ions which have harmful effects in many processes as well as in obtaining of many products. Taking as starting point the EDTA property to form metal-EDTA complexes we decided to test its effectiveness in mobilizing of the contaminant metal ions, especially cadmium from tissue of Prussian carp specimens subjected to chronic poisoning with cadmium acetate. At the same time we investigated the EDTA ability to reduce the known cadmium antagonism exhibited vis-à-vis some essential macro-and microminerals.

Disease resistance effect of sea-buckthorn (Hippophae rhamnoides L.) added in the fish diet.
In this paper, we approached a research theme regarding the effects of sea-buckthorn Hippophae rhamnoides L. added in the diet the common carp Cyprinus carpio upon the disease resistance in case of the imminent disease o...
Effect of different feed types on growth, spawning, hatching and larval survival in angel fish (Pterophyllum scalare Lictenstein, 1823)
In this study effects of commercial extruder diet (T1), earthworm (T2), 50 % commercial extruder diet + 50 % earthworm (T3) on growth, spawning, hatching and larval survival of angel fish (average weight 4.06 g) (Pteroph...
Heavy metals concentration in the tissues of perch (Perca fluviatilis) and bleak (Alburnus alburnus) from Czarna Orawa River, Poland
Two common fish species, Perca fluviatilis and Alburnus alburnus, from Czarna Orawa River were examined for concentration of certain heavy metals (Zn, Cu, Cd, Pb) in their tissues. Significant differences between these t...
Biological de-activation of granular formulation of a carbamate insecticide Cartap in water under laboratory conditions
Cartap 4% (Padan 4G™) at different concentrations was evaluated for its biological deactivation in laboratory-conditions. The insecticide at 1.88 ppm or above concentrations showed significant increase in percent of dead...
The effects on growth and survival of probiotic Bacillus spp. fed to Persian sturgeon (Acipencer persicus) larvae.
This study addressed if sturgeon larvae grew and survived better when fed a probiotic. Bacillus spp. were bioencapsulated in Daphnia magna (Straus 1820) and fed to Acipencer persicus (Borodin 1897) larvae. Ba...
